About VMG Racing
VMG Racing was established to support and build on the aspirations and talents of promising athletes and to compete successfully at the highest levels of competition. In 2006 the fledgling company fielded its first professional UCI-sanctioned team, a talented squad of U23’s just breaking into the professional ranks. VMG continues its focus on emerging professionals in 2007 with its unique partnership with USA Cycling, providing an appropriate, competitive racing environment for riders in their critical developmental years. USA Cycling and VMG Racing believe that the nurturing ground created by their partnership fills a gap that has existed in professional cycling in the United States. A seamless bridge from U23 ranks to UCI Continental and ProTour is now firmly in place and bodes well for accelerated development of pro cycling in the U.S. and Europe. VMG is not singularly focused on performance. Rather, it is deeply committed to developing sportsmen and women who are as dedicated to ethics and fair play, as they are to competition. As its name implies, the company teaches the concept of smart speed as opposed to absolute speed, borrowing from the nautical concept of "velocity made good." Smarter cyclists usually beat faster cyclists who do not ride as efficiently. Through their partnership, VMG Racing and USA Cycling are working to ensure that the new generation of professionals are ambassadors for and competitors in the pure sport of cycling.
